How to get more out of role prompts
Change the first request. Most of these prompts end with “My first request is …” and an example. Swap in your own before you send it, or the model starts on the example.
Keep the role going. The role holds for the whole chat. Send your next question as you would to the person the model is playing, without repeating the prompt.
Say when to break character. Several prompts reserve a signal, such as text inside curly or square brackets, for talking to the model instead of the role. Use it to change the rules partway through.
Tighten the output. If replies run long, add one line at the end: “Keep every reply under 100 words.” Role prompts respond well to an explicit length or format.
